EEES 160 Earth System Modeling
	Held concurrently with
GEOG 60.  What will Earth look like in 2100?  Scientists use the world's most sophisticated computer programs - climate models - to answer such questions.  This applications-based class introduces the theory and practicalities of process-based modeling for climate science.  We will employ a range of models, from 0-dimensional to fully-coupled global-scale Earth System Models.  Focusing on climate change, we will learn the potentials and pitfalls of modeling complex systems and how to evaluate models and their societal relevance.
