ARTH 21.01 Northern Renaissance Art

A survey of the major monuments of painting, sculpture, and the graphic arts in the Low Countries, Germany, and France, from the late fourteenth century through the Reformation. Content as well as style is examined in the light of its relation to social transformation and the cultural evolution of the period. Emphasis is placed on the work of such significant per­sonalities as the van Eycks, van der Weyden, Bosch, Bruegel, Grünewald, Dürer, and Hol­bein.
