Organization, Regulations, and Courses 2024-25

MUS 4 Global Sounds

Global Sounds explores world music, focusing each term on selected regions, countries, and cultures, and on how music has moved between East and West, past and present, and “roots” and popular styles. Course work includes critical listening/viewing, reading, and short weekly writing assignments as well as a final creative project or research paper. Where possible, guest artists are invited to offer live musical demonstrations. No prior musical experience is required.

The Timetable of Class Meetings contains the most up-to-date information about a course. It includes not only the meeting time and instructor, but also its official distributive and/or world culture designation. This information supersedes any information you may see elsewhere, to include what may appear in this ORC/Catalog or on a department/program website. Note that course attributes may change term to term therefore those in effect are those (only) during the term in which you enroll in the course.
